Will The Real 16431 Highland Valley Road Please Stand Up?
Some updates for you all!
I put in a call to our mechanic Sunday. They weren't open but at least we'd maybe get some attention Monday. He actually just happened to stop into the shop and called us Sunday and made a plan for us to drop off the car Monday.
I'm not really a fan of people never taking time off for themselves, but I have to say, this is a high level of customer service and it really did help out because Chris and I have to arrange how he's going to ride over there on his motorcycle to give me a ride back because the mechanic is near nothing useful like a bus line. And Chris needs to go to work and such, for which he uses his motorcycle.
So, yay. We dropped off the car Monday morning in all its creaking, weird starting glory.
I'd made a plan to receive a massage from a dear human this week. I didn't really talk about it in my last post, but I couldn't actually turn my head to the left while we looked at land. It was awkward. And painful. And of course all the land we went to visit turned up on the left side of the car.
I don't know how the pandemic has been for everyone but I feel it's safe to assume that most of us haven't gotten all the services we really need during it. I don't get massages often, but with less moving around and more stress, I have been really hurting. So Chris and I agreed that masked massages would be an acceptable risk.
Because of some wonky work scheduling, Chris turned out to not have to go to work Monday, so he gallantly offered to motorcycle me over to get my massage. And what a massage it was! I don't think that I've ever had a massage longer than 1.5 hours, but this glorious friend gave me a beautiful, bruising, skeletal correcting, deep massage that lasted an hour and 3/4. And Chris, bless him, waited the whole time. Not to mention, that while we were at these partners' home, they fed us lunch. How much better can you get?
I'll tell you how you can get better. We had a call from the mechanic who told us that the issue was broken engine mounts. Our engine was literally just hanging on whatever pipes and wires it fell on when they broke Saturday. And while we listened and got an estimate, our friend, also a mechanic gave us encouraging nods about the price and quality of this mechanic's diagnosis and estimate.
So, we were out $624.73, but let me tell you -our car? It now drives like butter melting in a warm pan. It's so smooth, I thought it was asking me out for drinks. And our long term issues shifting into first? Much improved!
Tuesday, I walked like a had a poo in my panties. I did drink a ton of water, but there was a lot of stuff stored up in those muscles and fascia and I tottered around on bent legs, slowly and mechanically. via GIPHY
We started looking at the pictures that Adam sent with this file. They just didn't look... right. And the plot lines... we'd seen a neighboring house pretty near the pad of what we'd looked at. If both these properties are for sale, where is the property with the house?
After much back and forth and looking at maps and consulting the interwebs, we found that the orchard property is not 16431 Highland Valley road. It's not even for sale. I totally ate someone else's avocado! And stole an orange!
I also got seriously obsessed with a project at work putting lingerie up on our website for the first time. I worked so hard, I forgot to eat. The next day, I intentionally made myself go to the gym (it was for 15 minutes, but hey, I went!) and get in the hot tub. I was much improved.
I emailed Adam Thursday to ask about the orchard land. We were excited about it and his last response was that he was waiting for the realtor for that land to send info. He emailed back late in the evening with some pictures and information that... honestly I have no idea what it meant. What does legal deeded parcel mean? RMWD line? Turns out there are two parcels, one at 16431 and one at 16434. The other is 21 acres. Oooo. Here are the plot pictures.
The one we looked at was vaguely triangular. That's it off to the top. |
We pulled up the plot lines from Chris's app to compare. Here's the plot from his app again.
...That's not the same triangle... |
This is a major GPS fail on our part. Or the part of Google Navigate. Basically, we had a nice walk last Saturday, but didn't make any headway on finding land we might want. Or rather, we might want it, but we can't have it. So this weekend, we will try to find the actual 16431 Highland Valley road. Here's hoping it has an orchard, though we doubt it very much.
